This course is for serious sailors who want to learn the skills required for voyaging safely offshore. You will act as skipper and crew on a cruising sailboat for 7 days. During this time, you will make one non-stop passage of at least 3 days and 100 nautical miles without touching land. Passage planning, vessel preparation, navigation, basic shipboard routines underway, emergency procedures and application of the Rules of the Road at sea will be utilized hands on. This is the perfect course for acquiring all the necessary skills for voyaging aboard your own sailing vessel. Master the knowledge provided in this course and you will be ready to sail safely anywhere.
General Description: The student is able to safely act as skipper or crew of a sailing vessel on offshore passages.
Requirements: completion of all previous standards
Advanced Coastal Cruising ASA (106) add as an option if not completed
Celestial Navigation Standard ASA(107) is not required
NYSS Certification and ASA Certification: ASA 108 - Offshore Passagemaking Standard
