Learn how to navigate your vessel utilizing computer charts and software. Linked with a GPS, a laptop PC can provide more information than conventional paper charts. The different types of charts and compatibility with various software applications will be covered. Hands on training and instruction as you navigate a sailboat while underway. Use of waypoints, routes, tracks, chart resolution, NEMA interfacing and PC program choices will be discussed.
Discounts will be available to students wishing to purchase software and charts from the NYSS.
Prerequisite: Coastal Navigation (105)
Course Length:4 hours classroom and 4 hours aboard a cruising sailboat underway
